Goals Will Come: Matthews

Oakleigh Cannons captain Tom Matthews is confident a win is not far away after the side suffered their third loss of the season.

Trailing 3-0 at the break against Dandenong Thunder – the home side hit back in the second half putting the visitors on the back foot.

Despite a Nick Epifano penalty mid-way through the second half – the Cannons were unable to convert the many chances created.

But Matthews believes this response after half time gives the side confidence heading into next week’s match against Kingston City.

“It’s a tough one to take – silly mistakes put us on the back foot,” Matthews said.

“We’ve got a good team and we know that.

“At the moment things aren’t working for us but it’s about it all clicking and we’re going to get that by putting the hard yards in.

“We’re creating plenty of chances which is promising it’s not as though we’re getting beaten and not creating.

“The goals will come there is quality all over the park in this team.”

Oakleigh travel to Kingston City on Monday 11 March for their next game.
