Oakleigh Cannons FC are proud to announce that former NPL Victoria winner Chris Lucas will be joining the Oakleigh Cannons for the next three seasons.
Lucas spent the early part of the 2021 season with the Altona Magic but has made the switch to the Cannons.
The striker was the top goal scorer for the Bentleigh Greens during their 2015 season and was instrumental in the sides success.
“Oakleigh is always up the top of the ladder, hopefully trying to win championships and definitely always in the finals series, so what better team to come to,” he said.
“I made the move to Oakleigh because there are a fair few player that I’ve played with in the past that I have won championships with and been in Grand finals with, and it’s a great club to come to.”
With the team having a solid start to the season, the addition of another attacking threat is sure to bring more success.
When asked about the team’s season so far and what he has liked from them, Lucas praised the sides’ ability to be competitive every weekend and their ability to always be at the top.
“(Oakleigh) Always performing week in week out obviously I follow them, and they are always fighting for games and either winning or drawing games and never losing really and fighting for the top spot.”
This will be the first time Lucas has played under coach Chris Taylor even though he has tried to get him for his previous sides.
“Even when he was at south Melbourne, he was contacting me to see if he could get me over to South Melbourne and now Oakleigh,” he said.
